I am a self-taught chess player still learning much myself, but hoping to help others improve their game.
My father originally taught me how all the pieces move when I was a child, but it wasn't until I was 25 that I decided I really wanted to learn how to play. So, I bought a book of openings and defenses (the BCO) and started going at it.
After 10 years of playing and studying and even having entered in official USCF tournament play for 3 years (best finish being 3rd place)... I have come a long way, but have much further to go.
In spite of that, I'm passionate about chess and would like to help others learn and grow right along with me.
I also play: Xiangqi, Weiqi (Go), Backgammon, Draughts (Checkers), and a variety of other board games. As well as card games such as: Texas Holdem Poker, Omaha, 7-card Stud, Rummy (in a few variants), and I'm currently learning how to play Bridge. I'd be willing to teach you how to play any of these exciting and mentally challenging endeavors.
