The Pioneer Project is a Gap Year program located in Brasstown, NC designed for students aged 17-24. Our program is intended for students who are seeking to foster self-reliance and sustainability through homesteading, learn the value of the humble creation of practical items through craft, and explore the mystery of the wilderness with their home on their back. Through “getting their hands in the dirt,” our students rejoice in the power of learning through experience, not textbooks. After being exposed to a diverse suite of experiences, our students begin to hone in on exactly what they are passionate about and what they will pursue on their path to co-creating a better world. Our students become true pioneers who not only possess the intrinsic confidence that sprouts from self-reliance, but also embark on the risky journey of “following their bliss.”
