More about The Purple Bird Project

The Purple Bird Project was created Chris Heuer and Amy Lake in honor of their 10 year old daughter, Helen, with epilepsy.
Purple is the official color for epilepsy. As we came to terms with the lifestyle that epilepsy and daily seizures brings, we felt an increasing need for creativity in our home and professional lives.

Because we need to be close to home to take care of Helen during her difficult seizure times, we realized the value of being able to make money from home.

We decided we wanted to highlight the reality of living with epilepsy and uncontrolled seizures, as it is not a very well understood condition. And, at the same tine, we wanted to bring joy and fun into our lives and the lives of others. Finally, we wanted to express our thankfulness to our community of supporters including our friends, family, co-workers, schools, teachers, health care professionals, and of course, our customers.

So our plan is to offer high quality handmade products that help to start the conversation about epilepsy with the proceeds benefiting both our family and the epilepsy community.

At lest 5% of all of our sales will be given to support two organizations: The Epilepsy Foundation of Missouri and Kansas, CURE (citizens united for research in epilepsy), and Ring 20 Research and Support UK

We have joined with both of these organizations and will be featured on their websites as a way that one family has dealt with the challenges of epilepsy.

Give someone a purple bird and share our story!
