The Rock Church

Our Story
The story of The Rock begins with a vision to Love God, Love People & Walk with Jesus. Pastor Tim has been in the ministry for many years, and felt a calling from God to start a church. God wanted him to start a church where not only would the people be fed the Word of God, but he would also be given the opportunity to serve God and the community. God wanted him to start a church with a heart for outreach and ministry to the communities of Wise County and the world.
In late 2012, with the help and support of family and friends, this small group began to dream, plan, and strategize. In December 2012, our first worship service was held in the garage of a home in Decatur, TX with just 26 people.
An official core launch date was set for February 2013, and the search for a temporary location was on.
Moving into The Bridgeport Stage
So, on February 3, 2013 the official launch service was held at The Bridgeport Stage. God also provided the opportunity to have a church office building, which doubled as a nursery and children’s church center on Sunday’s, within a few feet of the new “sanctuary” location. Since February The Rock has exploded. Throughout that numerical growth, we continued to emphasize the need for the smaller community feel through our Vision Groups, which meet in living rooms throughout Wise County. Currently, about 70% of the church is involved in a family Vision Group for small group bible study and prayer.
Student Ministry Center
In March of 2012 the opportunity opened up, one week before Easter, to move our children’s church, nursery, and youth services to a new location. We had been praying for this opportunity because the children’s church and youth had quickly outgrown the space at the office. Our new Student Ministry Center was born. With hard work and help for our church members, we created an amazing space for our kids! We now have an awesome location for our nursery, kids and youth group to meet.

Expanding
The future is unwritten, but we know what God is calling us to. We will continue to go after the vision that God has given us. Come be on mission with us as we discover God’s future for The Rock!
