More about The Sandhills Working Dog Club

I started working with dogs at a very young age, as a child growing up in Chile I have fond memories of my 3rd birthday when I was gifted a German shepherd puppy as well as a Chihuahua from two relatives who obviously did not coordinate this with my mother. On my 17th birthday my mother bought me my first Doberman, from this point on I was in love with the breed.

Two years later I imported my first dogs from Europe and then selectively bred my first litter. Since then I have bred, imported and exported dogs to Germany, Holland, Canada, Kuwait and Argentina as well as throughout the United States. I have been involved with working/performance dogs as well as show dogs of multiple breeds and look forward to keep expanding my K-9 knowledge, I feel that one should never limit themselves in this field.

I have competed at regional and national events with Dobermans, Bullmastiffs and American Pit-Terriers. My on the job experience ranges from working as a kennel attendant in high kill animal shelters, grooming in various shops (both chain store and independent) as well as working as a vet-tech at state of the art animal hospitals specializing in Orthopedics and Cancer research at the University of Rochester, NY.

I also served in the United States Army Infantry and Special Operations with multiple combat deployments. My first job as a trainer was over 18 yrs ago.........wow! That was a long time ago! lol! since then I have been involved in Schutzhund, weight pulling and conformation. Currently I am working with three young dogs to achieve titles in Schutzhund.

As of mid 2010 I decided to start my own K-9 equipment manufacturing business which specializes in Law Enforcement/Military equipment as well as boutique items for all dogs. I hope to expand this business to its full potential, check out Zuka K9.

I have been invited as a vendor to multiple local and regional working dog events as well as being invited to participate as an equipment vendor at the 2011 GSD Masters which will showcase the best working GSD's in the world.

Since this is my website I will close this first page with what I believe in and where I stand with the dogs.

1. God, Mother and Country

2. Good training practices, always listen to others. (whether good or bad)

3. Humility (something seldomly seen in dogsports)

4. Experience is gained by actual experience (tired of hearing, "I have been doing this for thirty years") Is it truly 30 yrs experience or 1 yr of experience times 30!

5. I know where I stand with my dogs (ability/health, substance). As tough as it sounds, Iam very honest with myself by putting everyone to the test in both working abilities as well as health certifications.

6. The Doberman has to start over in the working dog world.
Doberman breeders need to realize this, everytime I bust my butt training I think of the people trying to breed these dogs only to sell puppies because they have Euro lines.
You need to work them and see some of the huge faults as well as some of the amazing traits that these animals possess.

Thank You
