Oldest in the city, this 8 room house, built in 1707 & 1742, was home to Declaration-signer Stephen Hopkins, his family, and their slaves for 4 decades. Furnished with antiques & Hopkins heirlooms, tours include bedchambers (one where George Washington slept) study, keeping room, slaves' room and our Gallery currently showing a collection of 18th century samplers. We're located on Benefit Street's "Mile of History" one block from Brown University, the RISD Museum & WaterFire. Admission FREE, donations requested.
