The Tool Lady

I began selling items in the Clanton flea market in 2003, and I have been there ever since, regardless of the name. Then I started in the flea market in Selma when Junebugg's first opened. I have been in other flea markets along the way, and I have sold a wide variety of items.

Now I mostly sell tools, both new & used, in both stores. Most of my tools are brand new, but I do sometimes come across deals on used tools. A deal for me turns into a deal for the customer, regardless of the item.

I sell body jewelry, mostly in the Clanton store. But I do have a smaller display of body jewelry in the Selma store. My niece started me in this years ago when she wanted some body jewelry, and I didn't even know what she was talking about. So she explained it and I bought it. Then customers commented on what they wanted, and I bought more, and that's how my body jewelry business grew.

I also buy used furniture and re-sell it in the flea markets. At first, I was part of the chalk painting craze, and it was fun and interesting. But 'fun and interesting' doesn't necessarily mean profitable. So last summer I started painting things 'blue & orange' or 'red & white'. Then the blue & orange faded out, but the red & white sold well. There are several schools around the two counties where I sell furniture that use these as school colors, some people like them for a 'Coca-Cola' theme, and I am sure there are other reasons people are fond of this color scheme. haha.

I have recently added selling Avon products through the Clanton flea market. I try to keep a variety of deodorant roll-ons and the Skin-So-Soft bath oil in stock. I also leave a current Avon book in the showcase and some on display so that customers can place orders, if they so desire.
