URSI: Undergraduate Research Summer Institute - Vassar College

About URSI
Every summer a vibrant summer science community is formed under the umbrella of the Undergraduate Research Summer Institute (URSI). Approximately 60 students team up with over 30 faculty to engage in cutting-edge research on a wide variety of topics spanning the sciences. In this ten week, full-time, immersive research experience, students develop and execute research projects, participate in scientific workshops, and enjoy a variety of social activities. In early Fall, URSI students and faculty come together with the wider community to present their research at the URSI Symposium.

Students who participate in URSI are better prepared and motivated to secure employment in the science sector or pursue advanced degrees in the sciences, thereby helping to sustain a rich talent pool in critical areas of research and innovation. URSI students have gone on to present their research at regional and national meetings, and have published their work in a variety of publications, including top-tier scientific journals.

All current Vassar students who will be continuing their studies during the semester following the URSI summer period are eligible to apply. Students who are members of groups historically underrepresented in the sciences are particularly encouraged to apply.
