The Underground Conservancy is dedicated to protecting the often overlooked or avoided places that lie below the surface of the earth. Conservation efforts not only include caves but any type of underground site, such as abandoned mines, often looked at as a hazard by many groups, but which may contain significant biological or historical resources. The UC has a close relation with other groups such as Bat Conservation International and National Speleological Society Grottos. Protection looks to include natural underground beauty, such as cave formations, biological, cultural, historical, and water quality.
