The Place-Based Education movement in the United States has been slowly simmering for decades. Place-Based Education is: the process of using the local community and environment as a starting point to teach concepts in language arts, mathematics, social studies, science and other subjects across the curriculum - with an emphasis on hands-on, real-world learning experiences. Finally, as issues surrounding current trends in our traditional school system come to a head, families are seeking more effective ways to cultivate a joy of learning in their children while garnering superior results.
