Q: What makes our juices different from what you can buy at any grocery store?
A: A couple of things. Most juice in the grocery store is pasteurized, usually by heating the juice to high temperatures. This process also destroys the nutrients in the juice. Why drink juice with next to no nutrients and enzymes?! The method we use for extracting our fresh, cold-pressed juice (read more about our Hydraulic Press below!), allows for our juice to never be heated or pasteurized. Which means that the integrity and potency of the nutrients remain intact, and they are readily absorbed into your body when consumed. Another difference in our juice is the FRESHNESS. The shelf-life of most grocery store juice can be weeks or months due to pasteurization, preservatives, and additives. You don't know when it was made. Our 100% juice is fresh-pressed to order, within hours of you receiving them, with no further processing, and NO additives or preservatives. Lastly, when you drink OUR juice, you know exactly where the ingredients came from, because we strive to source them locally and organically!

Q: Why does our hydraulic press yield better juice than a "regular" juicer?
A: The largest difference is that a typical, non-pressing juicer creates heat and oxygen exposure, which destroys nutrients in the juice, as well as shortens the shelf life. Our hydraulic press moves very slowly as two paddles apply just the right amount of pressure, which minimizes or eliminates heat and oxidation, resulting in the best possible juice because nutrients and enzymes are kept in tact. Our process also allows the juice to stay fresh a little longer. Juice from a regular juicer should be consumed almost immediately. Our pressed juice stays fresh for up to 5 days! Regular or "centrifugal" juicers also leave behind a large amount of nutrients in the pulp. Our hydraulic press is very efficient in extracting significantly more nutrients, leaving behind pulp that is nearly dry to the touch! This also means less produce is wasted in the pulp that is left behind.

Q: What is our process for creating the juice?
A: Our juice is made using a hydraulic press. This cold-press extraction is the optimal method of juicing because it leaves nutrients intact. Most other juicing methods involve varying amounts of heat, which deteriorate nutrient quality. Our hydraulic press exerts thousands of pounds of pressure on the produce without any heat, allowing the integrity of the raw vitamins, minerals, and enzymes to be maintained. This yields juice with the highest density, and quality of nutrients and enzymes possible.

Q: What is the shelf life of our juice?
A: Because our juices are so pure and fresh, it is recommended that they are consumed within 3-4 days of being pressed. Refer to the date on the back of each bottle!

Q: How fresh is our juice?
A: About as fresh as it gets. We strive to use locally grown produce, which is harvested daily, and delivered straight from the farm to our store! We press and bottle our fresh picked produce daily, or per order so that the juice you receive was made within 24 hours of your consumption.

Q: Why drink our juice?
A: A majority of the produce we use for our juice is grown organically and or locally by nearby farms. Drinking fresh and pure fruit and vegetable juice allows your body to very readily absorb all of the nutrients from it, reaping the benefits of several servings (usually several pounds!) of fresh produce in just 1 single bottle of juice! Your body works hard to digest your food all day - why not give it the most important nutrients in one of the purest forms, but without the extra work load of digesting the extra fiber. That is what drinking our juice can do!

Q: Do we use organic produce and ingredients?
Yes. We actually source all of our ingredients (produce, etc.) organically and locally as much as we possibly can. We constantly strive to show preference to local growers, farms, and suppliers. If organic or local produce varieties are unavailable or out of season, we substitute with other high-quality options. Check out our website for a list of all the local farms and suppliers we work with!

Q: What is a juice cleanse?
A: Juice cleanses are just that: a bodily cleanse or detox. It means that you abstain from food, and you drink pure fruit and vegetable juice for a period of time that can range from 1 day to 1 week or more. Doing a juice cleanse allows your body and digestive tract to take a break and focus solely on absorbing the purest nutrients that it gets from the juices in the cleanse. This gives your body a chance to rest, restore, and eliminate toxins.

People do cleanses for many reasons. Many people choose to do a cleanse after the holidays, after indulging or straying from their usual diet, during or after times of stress, because they are experiencing headaches, symptoms of depression, fatigue, or digestive problems. Many people do a routine cleanse every week, every month, every season, etc. Give your body a break from the processed foods, chemicals, saturated fats, refined sugars, and artificial sweeteners, and fill it with the abundant nutrients jam-packed into a juice cleanse. Our juices are loaded with nutrients, which help the body to perform at its best, which means naturally eliminating harmful toxins and replacing them with beneficial nutrients. Visit our website to learn more.

Q: Should I do a juice cleanse?
A: If you are an adult who is interested in giving your body a boost, restoring some energy, improving your eating habits, and kicking off a healthier lifestyle, we highly recommend juice cleansing. Will you lose weight on a cleanse? It varies, but many people do. However, don't make that your sole reason for cleansing. **Please keep in mind that our cleanse programs are not appropriate for those of you who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or suffer from certain medical conditions. Consult your health care provider before starting a cleanse program if you have a medical condition or take medications.

Q: Why is our juice so expensive?
A: We definitely are not trying to pull anything over on you! Our prices are actually on the low to mid-point of the fresh pressed juice category. We are in line with competitors, and lower than many as well. Several pounds of fresh, raw, organic, local produce are in EVERY bottle of our juice. We are committed to these high standards, however this also results in a higher price point. If you are having a tough time justifying the cost, look at it this way: there is more produce in one bottle of our juice than you would get in a large salad at a restaurant where you would easily pay much more. As you may already know, juicing can be a costly, time-consuming, and involved process - and those aspects of juicing still exist even when doing it on a larger scale, as The Vermont Juice Company juice is fresh-pressed every day. Our high criteria for product selection and high quality production standards, as well as costs of operating a business (labor and rent doesn't pay itself :) ), do require a higher price point than you would pay to make the juice yourself, but it is truly the most fair price we can possibly offer.

Q: Why is our juice bottled? Why don't we make juice on a walk-in basis?
A: We bottle our juice for a few reasons. We bottle our juice to retain nutrient value. Keeping the juice bottled and sealed also keeps the juice fresher longer. We also bottle it to make it quick and easy for you to get! Our unique pressing process is very SLOW, so when we press the juices fresh each day, we bottle them immediately so that they are ready for you to grab when you come in. We proudly stand by our pressing method over using quicker juicing methods because our process, although slower, truly creates the BEST possible juice you can get. We are willing to sacrifice time for quality. This answers the question about why we don't make your juice on a walk-in basis. Pressing your juice on the spot would take far longer than it would take a "regular" juicer that you may see in many juice bars or households. We want your process to be efficient , enjoyable, and simple! Another reason for our bottled juices is that they are intended to give you the option to be used in cleanse packages (See our cleansing tab above for more info). During a cleanse where you're drinking JUST juice, on-the-go, for several days, is SO much easier when it's bottled! So there you have it -- please enjoy our conveniently and freshly bottled juices :)
