This is a grand home, appointed with valuable artwork, hand-woven rugs from Egypt, Morocco, Turkey and Asia, and historically important artifacts and documents. Built in 1902, this home was built by a local lumber baron family at the height of their wealth and prestige. Each of the rooms on the first floor is comprised of unique heirloom lumber. Each main room also boasts an original fireplace...for a total of six grand fireplaces in the house!

INCREDIBLE HISTORY

When the mansion was built in 1901, it was called "The White House" by family and friends of owner, Daniel Arpin. Arpin built this home as a wedding gift for his wife, Ella. Among the many innovations of the time, was an intricate system that Arpin had installed in the floors so servants would know the location of family members. This also was the first home in the area to have running water and electricity.

The home was built with the finest woods. There is the birch parlor, the maple library, the mahogany dining room and the African teak billiards room. Oak coffer ceilings adorn the foyer and quarter-sawn oak woodwork can be found throughout. The facade of this 6,000 square foot home stands grand Corinthian columns. When it was built more than 100 years ago it had three full baths, three half baths and six fireplaces.

The Arpin family were lumber barons at the turn of the century. They had reached the pinnacle of their financial wealth when this home was built, and it shows in every detail of the property. It has been so well built and cared for over the years that it has retained its beauty.

This mansion has a history as grand as it's style. Famed jazz musician Louis Armstrong once stayed here, as did women's suffragist Susan B. Anthony. Now, you can actually sleep in the same bedroom as Louis Armstrong and Susan B. Anthony. It has also hosted luminaries of stage and screen including Mickey Rooney, John McGivern and others.
