The White Palm Tavern

The White Palm Tavern opened for business on January 2, 2009 after a nearly total “make-over”, which took approximately nine months.It was the former “Topton House”, aka. Topton Hotel ,in Topton, Pa. It is owned by Rick and Robbin Gruber, who have 7 yrs. experience in the restaurant business. It is a family operated business, which includes children Kaylynn and Shane who are on board helping in the operation. The name “White Palm”,. was Robbin’s idea, after our love of all things tropical, and her grandmother being Hawaiian. We used the white palm, which doesn’t actually exist, and based our theme and décor around it. Our family has lived in the Topton area for about 30 yrs. now, with all the children having gone to the Brandywine School District.

We have a very diversified menu, which we believe, has something for everyone. A full page of appetizers, with some things you may not find, just anywhere.We offer many specialty sandwiches, wraps, burgers, steak sandwiches, and a crab cake sandwich, made in-house, which is hard to keep up with! Our entrée’s include some tropical dishes, and various shrimp, pasta, chicken, and pork dishes, including an “Angus Certified” 8 oz., char-broiled, delmonico steak.

We have a full compliment bar, which seats fourty, as well as a dining room, which seats an additional fourty-two. We also have an outside patio area which is open from spring till fall, to seat fourty more customers. It has patio tables with umbrellas , similar to what you would see at a sidewalk café’, for people who wish to drink or dine in the outdoor atmosphere. We offer domestic and imported beers, eight ice-cold draft beers, Guinness included, a large assortment of bottled beers and coolers, and a list of wines to go with any meal.

We are basically a casual dining restaurant/bar, where the prices are at a “casual” level as well. Our food, atmosphere, and staff’s goal, is to make you feel like you are in a fine dining establishment, but with down-to-earth casual prices. We have tried to make the restaurant and bar, a warm, inviting place where someone wants to visit, kick back, and hang out for a while. We hope we have achieved that.
