The Women's Center

The Dismantling Racism Initiative is part of a larger state-wide effort to identify and respond to racism and constructs of privilege within the domestic violence and sexual violence agencies in New Jersey. An initial training was organized by the New Jersey Coalition for Battered Women (NJCBW), where four staff from The Women’s Center attended. This impactful training was provided by Dismantling Racism Works, an organization based in North Carolina. It inspired The Women’s Center to create space and dialogue for similar work to go on, including forming a People of Color Caucus and a White People’s Caucus. These are specifically to talk about the reality of racism in our work and our agency and to process that reality.
