In fall 2001, food fanatics and co-owners, Trina and Sean Sheridan cooked up the idea to open a friendly shop that offered a top-quality line of kitchenware at reasonable prices, and a welcoming atmosphere for students to learn cooking skills from trained professionals.
The next year was spent selecting just the right product lines, gadgets, cooking class schedules and creating an inviting atmosphere for kitchenphobics and culinary professionals, alike. The kitchen- the setting for Wooden Spoon cooking school- was built featuring state-of-the-art Viking appliances and a custom-designed oval countertop, allowing spacious seating for up to 20 students. Finally, a nine-foot wooden spoon was raised to grace the facade.
On December 7, 2002 the Wooden Spoon opened its doors and became a proud part of the Andersonville independent business community, and Chicago’s best location for perfect cookware, classes and fantastic private events!
