Thistledown Farms opened its barn first in 2002 in the rolling hills of Wilsonville, Alabama. For over 14 years Holly Scherzer has delighted her riders with her quiet spirit and 30 years of experience. She has offered her clients the best in dressage training, personal care to their horses and has shown a true heart for the sport.
Thistledown Farm has created an environment that is professional, competitive yet entirely stress free. The amenities Holly offers, not only puts the rider but also the horse at ease, where safety for both is always the number one priority. She goes above and beyond and has a track record of success around the country.

Thistledown Farm is one of the leading Equestrian facilities in the Birmingham area specializing exclusively in the training of dressage horses and riders.

Holly also provides a stable that can host 11 horses in spacious stalls. Dutch windows surround the stalls allowing for maximum ventilation, and yoke fronts that provide both an authentic barn feel which is warm and inviting and gives plenty of opportunity for the “residents” to interact.
The 20 acres of pasture allow the horses to be comfortable and free.

In addition to training, teaching and lodging Thistledown Farm offers buying and selling of dressage horses at all levels. Holly, with 30 years of expertise in both Europe and the United States, is uniquely qualified to find the perfect and quality match between rider and horse.
