Welcome to Thomas Jefferson School, the home of the TJ Titans where we believe “Knowledge is Power.” Thomas Jefferson School is a third through fifth grade intermediate school which serves approximately 300 students. Our excellent teaching staff and support personnel consisting of about 45 members strive to ensure that every child succeeds by providing students with enriching and meaningful learning experiences in a safe and supportive environment. Our goal is to support and encourage each child in achieving his/her optimum potential by instilling in them an intrinsic sense of worth, curiosity and love of learning.

Our staff is committed to strengthening each child’s literacy skills by providing students with the keys of success. Our Balanced Literacy framework immerses students in high quality literature designed to help all students learn to read and write effectively. The program stands firmly on the premise that all students can learn in a child-centered classroom, providing many opportunities for real life reading and writing experiences.

Thomas Jefferson School prides itself on having a strong character education program. Children succeed when they are welcomed, and feel emotionally and physically safe. Here at TJ “character counts.” Students practice good character traits by following the six pillars: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship. Our students strive to be TRRFIC, someone to look up to and admire.

A great contributor to the school’s greatness is the strong support from our parents. We believe it is essential to form a strong partnership to ensure great success in each child’s education. Therefore, we work hand in hand with our PTO to provide our students with enriching opportunities such as those offered through our various cultural arts events and school residencies.
