More about Three Palominos

Welcome to Three Palominos. We are a new and upcoming western boutique. Our t-shirts, custom made western sparkle baby bedding and clothing, novelties, outdoor life photography prints and leather work are all available online. Plus we showcase our trendy t-shirts and classy western baby items at several of the larger barrel races throughout the year. Namely, The Elite in Waco, Texas in July and November and CC5D in Stephenville, Texas. My name is Amye Oglesby Craig, and I am the owner-operator. Along with our business manager, Stephanie Coughlin and my two daughters, creative designer Kameron Mantell and spokeswoman Katherine Locock, we are always striving to come up with new and exciting items for the western women and babies that want to add a little individuality to their style.
Three Palominos started from a t-shirt slogan that I couldn’t get out of my head. The short story of that is elsewhere on our website but let’s just say for now that the more I thought about it, the more sense it made. “Watch Out for Old Ladies Riding Fast Horses.” I myself am 52 years old and still ride every day. And I realize that really isn’t “old” by today’s standard which makes it even more comical and fun!! It is mainly directed as a compliment to the 50 and overs that have always and are still winning in a BIG WAY!!
So from that beginning we started recalling our western heritage passed down from my parents and grandparents on both sides of the family. (My grandparents, Punch and Fay Oglesby will be inducted into the Texas Rodeo Cowboys Hall of Fame in 2014.) After a family meeting it was decided that we would draw from memories of how I was raised with my grandmother’s trend setting western style to create our own western contribution to the horse world.
I quite coincidentally ride and run barrels on three palomino horses. As we were all throwing around names for our new venture, my husband very quietly and calmly says, “What about “Three Palominos.” Instantly we knew that was it! These three horses with the addition of a few more are a huge part of our everyday lives in every aspect. So it only appropriate that our boutique be named after them.
Please enjoy browsing and don’t hesitate to contact one of us if you have any questions, suggestions or ideas! We are always looking for ways to improve and grow. We are busy in the sewing room coming up with new designs and another cool slogan on a t-shirt is about to come off the presses, so stay tuned and keep checking back.

Hi, my name is Amye Oglesby Craig. I am a wife, mother, grandmother and animal lover. Competitive horsemanship and free-lance photography are my passions. I started this website to have a place for my friends and customers to come to order my t-shirts with the caption, “Watch Out for Old Ladies Riding Fast Horses.” However since its inception many more ideas have flourished and I will be adding to it as time goes on. Among many blessings in my life, I have two very talented daughters, Kameron Mantell and Amye-Katherine Locock, whom will be adding their creations for your choosing. They both have a knack for interior design and one of them, Kam is a very gifted seamstress and photographer. And Katherine, who models for other western stores, has kindly agreed to adorn my retail items for you to see. Also I would like to introduce my cousins, Andrea Meeks and Adelina Valenzuela. They are the artists that drew the design of the old lady running on the fast horse that is on my t-shirts. I look forward to see what all they add to this online store. In addition I have invited another young lady, Kayli Abernathy to display her gorgeous and unique beadwork and hat painting.

For your pleasure I will share with you a funny story that got all of this started. About a year ago I was standing in line in Gonzales, Texas waiting to pick up a check that I had earned at the Wrap n’3 barrel race. While standing there this cute young man that looked to be about 19 or 20 struck up a conversation with me explaining that he was there with his girlfriend that was just beginning her barrel racing career. Among several pieces of advice that he shared with me that he had given her, the one that caught my ear was this, he says, “I told my girlfriend that the main thing that she was going to have to watch out for were these old ladies riding young horses.” He went on to say, “I told her that they will beat you every time.” As we stood there and he continued talking, I gazed at the group of ladies waiting in line to get their check and there stood many older famous barrel racers. These tough old ladies are everywhere!! I am a member of the Texas Senior Pro Rodeo Association and let me tell you, you best not let your guard down because they are coming after you!!

When I presented my idea to my ‘artist’ cousins to draw the horse for me, they reminded me that barrel racers are not the only “fast old ladies.” As they themselves compete in cross country endurance races along with my other cousin, Drew Anne Page. So there you have it, there are “fast old ladies” in every event. So if the shirt fits, “wear it!” And it makes me bust with a sense of “cowgirl comaradity.” We represent the good ole days of friendship and fierce competition all wrapped up in one package
