Shebaro (Brazilian) Jiu-Jitsu

Shebaro (Brazilian) Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art, self defense system and grappling sport that focuses on ground fighting, using various throws, grappling techniques and submission holds. In 1882, Ryu, the multiple schools of Japanese Jiu-Jitsu were combined to create the Japanese art of Kodokan Judo. From this art, Jiu-Jitsu was born. Jiu-Jitsu promotes the principle that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend them selves against a bigger, stronger assailant using leverage and proper techniques; most notably, by applying joint locks and chokeholds to defeat them. Contenders train in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to prepare for Gi (Sport Grappling) Tournaments, No-Gi (Submission Wrestling) and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Competition or Self-Defense. Sparring, commonly referred to as rolling, and live drilling play a major role in training. A premium is placed on performance, especially in competition.
