Hollywood director and Disney animator, Kevin Lima, is a Tolman High School alumni (Class of 1980) - His film credits include "A Goofy Movie", "Tarzan", "102 Dalmatians", "Eloise at the Plaza", "Eloise at Christmastime", and "Enchanted".
The school is in some scenes of the film "Moonstruck" (starring Nicolas Cage).
The school's swimming pool was featured in the film "Mermaids" (starring Cher & Winona Ryder).
Graphic designer, Abraham Nathanson, graduated from Tolman High School. He created the game Bananagrams, a game that uses letter tiles similar to Scrabble with the addition of the element of speed.
William E. Tolman Senior High School (originally Pawtucket High School, changed to Pawutcket East High School, then William E. Tolman Senior High School) is one of two public high schools located in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. It was built and opened in 1926 along the east bank of the Blackstone River as a "state of the art" educational facility. The building consists of four floors and a basement, 60 class rooms, a 1,300-seat auditorium, a swimming pool, and a nursery for the children of teenage mothers. Tolman High School is the first multi-million dollar high school east of the Mississippi and the gym is the oldest high school gym in Rhode Island that is still in use. The school has been remodeled several time with the most recent being in 1980.
