Tomate Fresh Kitchen owner, Tania Merlos-Ruiz, studied baking, pastry and savory dishes at Washburne University. She has received numerous accolades, including a Les Dames d'Escoffier and Diageo scholarships. The late Maggie Daley was a big fan of Tania's Black Bean Soup. Most recently, Tania won first prize for her Latin-inspired fusion of spices and chilies at the Glenwood Chili Cook Off. You can find Tania at numerous farmers markets in the Chicago area. Her crowd-pleasing empanadas are always a huge hit!
