Topanga Days 2014 is just around the corner, and will mark its 41st year!

The Topanga Community Club (TCC) was founded in 1949, originally as the Topanga Woman’s Club, to be community center for all. The early members joined together to host card and dance parties, cake raffles, bingo games and children’s events, and held rummage sales, sold cookbooks and even donated livestock to support their efforts. A 12-acre parcel was offered to the club in 1950 and a decade later, the shell of the house was built and the mortgage paid, all done by local volunteer labor and love.

In the years gone by, many events and gatherings were held at our Community House.
The original Strawberry Festival of the 1960s began here at the House, and over time, this festival evolved into Topanga Days, our annual fundraiser held on the three-day Memorial Day weekend.

The house became the venue for the Topanga Symphony, the annual Nutcracker Ballet, the monthly senior lunches, Topanga Youth Services events, holiday celebrations for children and seniors, the Swap Meet/Chili Cook-off, the Mother’s Day Tea, the Easter Egg hunt, countless community meetings, and youth and adult team sports and exercise classes. Many non-profit groups use the house, including AA, NA, Boy Scouts and the Topanga Co-Op Preschool.

The structure is one of four Red Cross shelters in Topanga Canyon, and is a Community Safety Area, to be activated in a disaster if deemed necessary by the L.A. County Fire Department. The house can also be rented for private events.

The original founders of the TCC and the Community House intended this property to not only be a center for the community, yet to be a center for charitable works and charitable giving. To this effect, countless fundraisers for those sick and in need have been held at the House. Our funding also supports a more quietly used emergency fund.

The Board of Directors and the membership are committed to continuing these traditions. The TCC cannot do this alone. Join the independent and pioneer spirit of the Topangans who built this house and please consider a donation of money, goods or services. Topanga Days is known for it's great music, of course, but each year the games become more popular and even infamous. Just check out the pie eating contests from previous years on YouTube! This year, our Games Master, Adam Silbar, promises to bring it all up a notch with more fun, bigger messes, and of course, prizes for the winners!
