WHO WE ARE

The mission of Top Ten Reviews is to present independent, reliable information to help you make complex buying decisions easily. We publish thousands of objective third-party product reviews in a vast range of categories — from antivirus software to robot vacuum cleaners to credit-card processing services.

Our staff of reviewers and editors, each with a specialized portfolio of products and services, researches the marketplace and assesses the best choices.

We focus on the needs of buyers by developing content that is unbiased, credible and thorough. The products and categories we include and recommend offer clear and valuable consumer benefits.

We’re committed to clarity and transparency about how we work and how we present information and advice.

WHAT WE DO

We monitor a multitude of marketplaces, keeping abreast of key trends to choose which products and services to cover. Within any one category, we may research dozens, even hundreds, of choices to arrive at a short list, usually of 10 products. Those top picks are evaluated, scored and ranked within TTR's signature side-by-side presentation.


Hands-on use and evaluation:
We are committed to obtaining and using the products and services we review. We either borrow them from manufacturers, with no conditions attached, or purchase them as regular consumers. We then use them as any consumer would to help identify and assess their most important features and attributes.


Scoring & Ranking:
We use our tests to gather data on performance, features, ease of use, and other attributes. That data is then scored, and the scores are weighted to create an overall score, using a proprietary weighted system. The products are then ranked by those scores, with the three top-ranked products being designated as Gold, Silver and Bronze Award winners.


Editorial Independence:
We maintain a strict separation between the editorial process and the work of our sales team. Once our writers and editors complete a review, sales staff pursues various means of developing revenue for that content. Those means include traditional advertising, sponsorship of all available advertising on a page or within a category, sending sales leads to vendors whose products and services are reviewed on the site.


Updates:
Since products, services, and marketplaces inevitably change over time, we periodically update reviews and product lineups to ensure they continue to provide the most relevant information and advice. A product's score and ranking may change as new products are reviewed, and new features and attributes are added to the evaluation protocol.
