Torna's Pizzeria

In 1960 two Italian immigrants, by the name of Antonio Cammarano and Pasquale Lisa opened a quaint pizzeria in Hoboken, New Jersey. Pasquale thought of the name Torna, which translates to “return”. The original address of this establishment was 258 9th Street in Hoboken, NJ, 07030.
After 8 years, Antonio Cammarano, a brother of Anegelina Percontino sold it to the head of the Percontino family, Nicola Percontino. All three men immigrated from Monte San Giacomo, Italy. Nicola and his beautiful wife Angelina came to this country to give their five children a life filled with opportunity. What they did not realize was how pivital this decision would coem to be!
Throughout the years, the entire Percontino Family worked to no end. It was in 1970 that Nicola invested in the building where Torna stands today. Amazingly, with only a second grade education, Nicola Percontino turned out to be an exceptional business man. Nicola and Angelina were truly the most magnificant of individuals.
Due to Nicola’s poor health, the ownership of Torna was exchanged between the five children for some time. Then in 1993, the couple’s third child, Antonio “Tony” Percontino became the sole owner. He definitely inherited his parents work ethic, too.
It seems absolutely impossible to find a harder working man. Tony is the most selfless and loving person. His generosity is beyond great. He lives for his children, biological and adopted, grandchildre and every single one of his nieces and nephews. He shows endless compassion to each life that walks through his doors! He exemplifies a true American. Torna’s success comes for being owned and operated by family from the pizza maker to the delivery boy.
Through the years, Torna Pizzeria has given the children of the family and their friends an outlet to socialize and keep out of trouble. All of Hoboken’s current and past residents consider Torna Pizzeria an extended home. at Torna Pizzeria you are sure to get a delicious meal, attentive service and welcoming conversation.
