Town of Navassa

Navassa, North Carolina is a small town at the confluence of the Brunswick and Northwest Cape Fear Rivers in Brunswick County, North Carolina. Navassa is only 5 miles west of the historic City of Wilmington, and is located in one of the fastest growing regions in the United States. In fact, Navassa is becoming one of the fastest growing communities in Brunswick County and is in the center of the county's rapid expansion.

Navassa was incorporated in 1977. The first mayor, Louis A. Brown, served from 1977 to 1999. Since 1999, the town has been under the leadership of Eulis A. Willis. With annexation of the surrounding communities of Old Mill, Phoenix, and Cedar Hill in 2001, the population has increased to approximately 1,900 citizens.

Navassa's convenient location offers easy access to award winning New Hanover and Brunswick County beaches, great shopping areas, the University of North Carolina Wilmington, community colleges and various forms of entertainment.

With Navassa's continuous growth, the town remains committed to providing services for the community and has a well trained police department and volunter fire - rescue department.
