Transform via Travel

No one is immune to the challenges that life can bring, not even myself. Just a few years ago, I found myself in the middle of coping with the loss of a 10-year relationship. Just a few months later, I found myself caring for a terminally ill parent, and eventually went through the year-long process of settling my parents’ estate. Coming out of those events, my life looked completely different than I thought it ever would. I felt the need to escape and redefine who I was going to be moving forward.

Wanting space to sort out my thoughts, I took a trip; the first trip since my father’s passing. Amid feeling the need to escape and numb myself, I realized I was in the middle of an opportunity to create new adventures and challenge preconceived notions of myself. I found when I traveled that I was able to write my own story – I could be whomever I chose to be. During one of my trips, I set out to take up scuba diving even though I hate to get my face wet, I’m not a great swimmer, and I have control issues. I traveled with purpose using various books to help open my thinking. I journaled a lot as a way to process who I was and what I’d been through, and how I would be able to use my past to shape who I would choose to be in the future.

Your story may sound similar, or ring quite differently. But what we likely have in common is the desire to grow something special out of the rubble of what we’ve endured. My goal is to help each woman who comes to me by showing them how they can transform their life through the profundity of travel and self-discovery.
