More about Treis' Farm

Our Birds

At Treis Farms we keep one crucial belief close to the heart: to eat your values. We aim to provide our turkeys with a pleasurable and happy life. This includes a life free of growth enhancers, hormones, and cages. Our turkeys live on a pasture through almost all of their lives providing them with a natural life of grazing fields, flocking, and gobbling. This delivers the turkeys with a pleasurable life, and hungry people with a superior turkey dinner. The industrialized turkey production system has been plagued individuals with turkeys that have been crammed into tight housing and forced to grow to egregious sizes. These turkeys do not represent the values we hold here at Treis Farms where our turkeys are ethically raised and appreciated. Here at Treis Farms we raise Bourbon Red turkeys, a heritage breed of turkey. This is properly defined under the heritage turkey tab. We provide ethically grown turkeys without hormones: you can tell in the taste!. These are natural, real turkeys and the mouthwatering flavor will make you want to eat turkey for every special occasion. They surely wont make you dread the tradition of having turkey for thanksgiving. Please feel free to contact us about any of our ethical practices.

How Local are Treis Turkeys?

The environment is another concern for the staff here at Treis Farms. We are located in Northern Orange County on 25 acres in Cedar Grove, North Carolina. Our turkeys will never leave the state and go from our pastures to your table. Our practices cut down on the amount of carbon emissions produced when you acquire your Thanksgiving dinner, and also ensure a level of freshness that cannot be compared to the industrialized turkey system. Thanks to these factors, a Treis Turkey is getting to you with minimal carbon emission and superior taste.

Why Our Birds Are Different?

There are many different places to get a thanksgiving turkey. The reasons to stay away from the industrialized broad breasted white are endless, but why should you choose a Treis Turkey over another run of the mill turkey? My father moved to Cedar Grove in 1985 has been raising poultry ever since he arrived. Throughout my childhood, we have had a menagerie of poultry and each of these has been treated like a pet. This is how we raise our turkeys here at Treis Farms.
