Tri-County Academy of Personal Defense includes instruction in mixed martial arts, basic firearms handling, and concealed carry certification.

Mixed martial art instruction is provided by Kelly O'Keefe and several other instructors including a female jiu-jitsu, boxing, and kickboxing instructor.

A free uniform is provided for kids who sign a 3 month agreement. All students will be tested for belt advancements as their skill level progresses.

Pee Wee Mixed Martial Arts Info:
Students at this level will learn basic Tae Kwon Do skills including grappling, sparring, and forms.

Youth Mixed Martial Arts Info:
Students will begin to learn advanced skills and skill application. Krav Maga and Jiu Jitsu will be introduced. Students will learn be able to compete in tournaments at this level.

Adult Mixed Martial Arts Info:
Students will gain experience in a variety of mixed martial arts including Tae Kwon Do, Krav Maga, Kickboxing, gun and knife retention, and personal self defense. These classes are designed for practical application- not traditional forms.

Basic Pistol Class:
This 4 hour course reviews basic gun safety instructions, hands on training of hand grips, handling skills, drawing and shooting techniques and trigger pulls.

Concealed Carry Certification:
Requirements- Valid Illinois driver's license, valid FOID card, must be at least 21 years old
This is a 16 hour course that includes classroom instruction, hands on training, and range time.
After successful completion of this course students will be able to submit the application for a concealed carry license through any FFL dealer. A fee of $150 is payable to the Illinois State Police and a fee of $20 is payable to the FFL dealer for processing the application. It can take up to 4 months to receive the license once the application has been submitted.
PLEASE NOTE- once students have met the Illinois concealed carry requirements and received a permit, they have also met the requirements for the states of Arizona and Florida and may apply for concealed carry permits in those states.
