Trinity River Getaway

Douglas City Cottage Description:

Located less than 1 mile from HWY 299. This little cottage is 750 sq ft. It is in a semi secluded, semi private, yet serene environment. The cottage is provided water by way of an old earth well fead by a natural spring. During the latter parts of the summer water tables do get low here and our wells run dry. We are now in what we call 'camping mode'. Meaning there is no longer running water at the cottage. To accomodate this time frame. We provide 3 eight and a half gallon water containers with nice pour spouts for doing dishes, 3 two and a half gallon solar shower bags, and 50-100 gallons of Mt. Shasta Spring water for drinking and flushing the water conservation toilet. Close by is Readings Creek only 10 min walking time, this creek flows right into the Trinity River and is a sight to see. For years I have walked the creek and picked berries while going down to the mouth of the river. Also, by traveling back to HWY 299, turning left over the bridge, you will immediately drive upon the Douglas City store. This road is Steiner Flat, from here you can access the DC campground which has a great spread of beach, running water, hot showers, and picnic tables. You can continue down Steiner Flat road until it comes to an end. The cool thing is-is every dirt road you see takes you to an access point of the river, where you'll find amazing water holes for swimming or fishing. Every dirt road circles back around to itself. Very easy driving, safe, all BLM sights. Now the house is completely furnished....it has 1 bedroom with a queen size bed. The bathroom is small, but is complete with bath and shower. There is a hidabed couch which sleeps two, Direct tv cable, a portable cd player, a fully equipped kitchen, a gas BBQ, patio furniture for four, a swamp cooler, wood burning stove, firewood, and two sleeping cots along with linens. Other than the cottage out of water and in camping mode this is a wonderful, clean place in an amazing area.... I thankyou so much for your interest!!
