TrueWay Natural Horsemanship & Barefoot Services

TrueWay Natural Horsemanship is a community-oriented, partnership-based horse and people training program. We have two locations, one at Canterbury Farm in Arcata, CA and another on Old Arcata Road in Sunnybrae. We have the perspective that each horse learns in their own individual way, just as people do, and therefore there is no single methodology to train horses. The "true way" to train is through an individualized training program that best suits the needs of each horse we work. Our personal horses are a testament to the quality of training that we provide at TrueWay. The majority of our personal horses came from abusive, neglectful, or otherwise unsatisfactory homes and now, after patient and consistent work, they are road-savvy, bombproof, athletic trail partners.They are the result of the foundation of trust and confidence that we instill in each of them. We believe that horsemanship is a lifestyle-- not a hobby-- and work hard to produce animals that can actively participate in the lives of their human counterparts, whether it be going to the grocery store, or a long weekend in the mountains. Because of this, we specialize in training horses for pleasure riding that are fit to conquer California mountain trails and busy downtown streets, but the well-rounded horses that leave our program can truly excel as working ranch or performance partners as well.
