Turtle Creek Kids

Opening a child care center of my own was not as difficult a decision as one might imagine. While I loved my previous jobs working with young children, I felt that I needed to do something to be true to myself. If you do something for 10+ hours a day, every day, it has to be truly authentic. After more than a decade of working with preschool-aged children (including being the most requested teacher at my previous job, Central Christian Church’s Noah’s Ark Preschool), it was time to do something that was uniquely me. That was the beginning of the Turtle Creek Kids child care center.

Turtle Creek Kids is an inclusive, welcoming place for all families. My goal is to create a space that will help kids grow and understand their own independence, while feeling safe and nurtured. We are lifelong learners, and we get inspiration from many places: music, art, books, and each other. I strive to model my genuine thirst for knowledge and passion for life to the children in my care.

At Turtle Creek Kids, we love to share other cultures and celebrate diversity, and the first place we will look is the calendar. We celebrate holidays, birthdays and festivals that are familiar, and ones that we will explore together. Turtle Creek Kids discover a wide variety of musical genres that help us learn about rhythm, dance and instruments. Art, both guided and creative, helps us learn about texture, shapes, colors and just plain fun. Books are also a big part of each day, as they are available at all times in the cozy reading center and at daily structured reading times. And finally, at Turtle Creek Kids, we are inspired by each other. When one of us has a strong interest in a subject, we find a way to help each other explore that interest.

I've put tremendous thought, energy and resources into creating an environment in my home that exceeds standards and expectations. Creating Turtle Creek Kids has been born from a labor of love. Operating out of my home has led me to make every building and grounds decision with the heart of a welcoming host rather than that merely of an entrepreneur.

My goal is to foster personal relationship with whole families. When my son (who is now in college) was young, we felt like his caregivers were a part of our family. Over our evening meal, we discussed our days. Every conversation was peppered with stories from our son about his teachers and friends. With my own blend of respect, pursuit of knowledge, open communication and service, I hope that my Turtle Creek Kids families feel the same. Early childhood years are so important. This is so much more than a business transaction. I know what it means to search for the love, safety and joy that the very best child care fit can provide for your child and family.
