Turtle's Subs, Etc.

Turtle's Subs has been family owned since 1987. Father and son, Leroy and Christian Peck refer to themselves as the Dynamic Duo. Leroy wants his customers to know that "we do all of our cooking from scratch and that is one of the things that sets us apart from the chain restaurants". People say we have the best subs in town! We have been providing generous amounts of quality, delicious food for 28 years.

Turtle's Subs are made with real, shaved ribeye steak, on homemade rolls that are made fresh daily. They are topped with a special recipe of seasoned lettuce and sweet peppers made in house. Turtle's other offerings that make them unique include homemade blue cheese dressing and soups made from scratch.

According to Christian; "You've got to try it, if you love great food, you can't deny it".

Where did the name come from?
In the early 1900's, near the New Jersey shipyards, the local sandwich shops and markets began making sandwiches on a longer roll instead of the traditional round shape. Eventually someone said the sandwich resembled a submarine like the ones in the shipyard-hence the name submarine sandwich. When the American military built the very first submarine, it was called the turtle, a one man wooden sub. That is how we got our name. We sell great subs.
