More about Twin Ponds Flowers

Twin Ponds Nursery is a small nursery specializing in ornamental perennials, grasses, shrubs and trees particularly adaptable to Hudson Valley soils and climate. We grow many native and deer resistant varieties. We are situated just south of the village of Rhinebeck, off Route 9, graced by two ponds which provide water as well as beautiful vistas.

Many of our plants are grown in the ground and are custom dug as needed or divided and potted up in the spring. We sell through the Rhinebeck Farmer’s Market in May, June and September, and throughout the season as part of Meg’s design and consultation service. Almost all of the plants for sale through our nursery have been grown here for over a year. The nursery has many large sized specimens available.

Meg studied landscape design and got her degree in horticulture in the Boston area in the late 1980′s, before moving to the Hudson valley in 1990. She founded a fledgling nursery business in 1993, and it has grown to include consultation, design, and installation services.

Meg also takes courses and attends conferences regularly to keep current with sustainable growing practices and to learn about exciting new plant offerings. She is knowledgeable about species which are disease and deer resistant, adaptable, and suited to our climate. Meg has a strong interest in the importance of biodiversity and native plant material, and she grows organically. She is keen to educate homeowners about caring for their gardens and realizing the potential in their landscapes.

Meg’s interest in horticulture and landscaping extends beyond her business and nursery.

She is an active member of the Rhinebeck Farmer’s Market, the Rhinebeck Conservation Advisory Board, the Rhinebeck Village Tree Commission, and Wilderstein Preservation.
