Union EMS

Union Emergency Medical Services is the primary provider of emergency and non-emergency pre-hospital medical care and transportation for the geographical area of Union County. These activities are accomplished by providing 24-hour coverage with Paramedic-staffed ambulances 24-hours per day.
EMS resources are placed in strategic locations throughout Union County to achieve optimal responses at all times. These locations include ambulances based at our headquarters (located on the campus of Carolinas HealthCare System – Union), Stallings, Unionville, Marshville, Wingate, Sandy Ridge, Waxhaw, and Weddington as well as other neighborhoods throughout the county.
To maintain this level of coverage, Union EMS began taking the steps necessary to transition over to staggered deployment accomplished through staffing shifts that will eventually totaling fourteen during the daytime and 9 during the night. These shifts are dispersed among four 12-hour rotating shifts. The Paramedics are led by two Shift Supervisor and supported by additional Assistant Shift Supervisors. The shift operations are supported administratively by the Director, Operations Manager and Training Officer with hours concentrated during the traditional 40-hour work week but flex their shifts to accommodate the needs of the team. The Field Training Officer/s assist with quality assurance, chart review, and skills maintenance of field personnel.
