United Ministries

Since Hurricanes Ivan, Dennis and Katrina, this community has been overwhelmed with an increase in the number of families in financial crisis and at risk of losing their homes. The community continues to suffer from the national economic recession and the local economic distress caused by the Gulf Oil Spill of April 2010. Responsible, hardworking individuals, who have never asked for help in the past, are in need of assistance. Meeting the needs of families in crisis is challenging work. The staff, volunteers and Board of United Ministries would like to increase the assistance given to each family, both quantitatively (increased amount of financial aid) and qualitatively (increased opportunities for counseling and financial literacy). Through partnerships with various community agencies, United Ministries works to address the needs of clients in a more holistic manner, and we believe that life can be better for all of us in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.

United Ministries envisions the greater Pensacola area as a thriving, sustainable, and safe community where residents are treated with respect and work together for the common good; where churches unite in purpose to demonstrate the compassion of Christ; and where the United Ministries’ volunteers and staff act on behalf of local families with financial and spiritual needs in order to prevent homelessness.
