Unity Baptist Tabernacle was established in May of 1932 as " The People's Gospel Mission" by the late Reverend Dr. E. W. Bowen. One year later the church changed it's name to Unity Baptist Tabernacle as it became vigorously involved in a campaign for Christ. It's first worship site was located at 44 South 4th Avenue, Mount Vernon, New York. In order to accommodate the large umber of parishioners who were seeking salvation, Unity had to move it's place of worship three times between 1932 and 1947.
In May of 1968, the year that Unity Baptist Tabernacle was celebrating it's Thirty-sixth year of Christian Service, the church marched through the city of Mount Vernon into it's new location, 101 South Second Avenue, Mount Vernon, New York. Unity Baptist Tabernacle sits on the top of the hill of 2nd street in Mount Vernon, New York and is known as the church where "God is Love"
