University at Buffalo School of Nursing

UB School of Nursing (SON) leaders and faculty have a common goal of improving patient and health care system outcomes through translational research, educating entry-level and advanced practice nurses for the nursing workforce, and educating the next generation of doctoral-prepared nurse researchers and teachers for the academy. Our vision is to be in the top 25 schools of nursing in the nation with a highly collaborative faculty recognized for excellence. With approximately 500 students, over 450 intended nursing majors, and approximately 50 FTE of faculty, the School has the greatest breadth of academic programming of any nursing school in New York State. Programs include two entry-level baccalaureate programs, seven advanced clinical specialty programs leading to the master’s degree, and the research-focused PhD. The School plans to launch the clinical doctorate program (Doctor of Nursing Practice) in January 2011. We are the only ranked school of nursing in the State University of NY system, and we have one of the most diverse groups of students at UB.
