U.S. Coast Guard Air Station San Francisco

Coast Guard Air Station San Francisco was opened on February 15, 1941and housed a PBY-5 Catalina and two RD-4 Dolphins. During WWII the station was tasked with Search and Rescue, coast patrols and the construction of the Long Range Aid to Navigation (LORAN) system. Since that time, the air station has seen many different aircraft but continues it's mission of search and rescue and law enforcement up and down the northern California coast.
