About the Marine Corps Memorial
The Marine Corps memorial honors the overall service of the U.S.M.C. as well as specific units, special corps (such as FMF Corpsmen and Women Marines) and various wars. There is a time capsule to be opened in 2076. There is ample parking. The memorial is available from dawn to dusk.
The United States Marine Corps Memorial, located at the intersection of U.S. Highways 6 and 40 in Golden, Colorado, was the realization of a dream long held by SSgt Cyrus “Bo” Bowers, a veteran of World War II and Korea. Wartime military experience left him with the conviction that being a “special breed”; the Marines who have served in the Corp deserved a fitting recognition of their sacrifice and service.
