The U.S. Taekwondo Center was founded by Grand Master Myong Sok Namkung Mayes in 1987 in Spring Lake, North Carolina. Grand Master Myong Sok Namkung Mayes, 9th Dan Black Belt, is the highest ranking Taekwondo female in the WORLD. Come and see why the government of South Korea labeled her as a “Living Legend”.
We have over three hundred students, ranging in ages 2 to 74 years old.
Our school’s mission is to:
- provide the highest quality of martial arts instructions.
- teach character skills that are essential to our kids' future. These skills include confidence, self discipline, patience, respect, responsibility, and perseverance.
The U.S. Taekwondo Center was founded by Grand Master Myong Sok Namkung Mayes in 1987 in Spring Lake, North Carolina.
There are over twenty U.S. Taekwondo Center schools in the United States. Each school is managed and owned individually by a Grand Master or Master. They are famous, admired, and respected throughout the world of Taekwondo. In order for a Grand Master or Master to use the “U.S. Taekwondo Center” name, they must be one of the following:
1. World Champion
2. U.S. Olympic Coach
3. Olympic Medalist
Taekwondo teaches much more than kicking and chopping. At the U.S. Taekwondo Center, the students will learn step by step instructions on how to execute certain techniques, and they will also learn character skills that are essential for their success in life.
