Valley Lutheran School

The dream of a Lutheran high school began in the Cedar Valley in 1994 and this vision grew to include middle and elementary school. Our vision is to “set the standard for excellence and innovation in Christian education.” Construction of Valley Lutheran High School began in 2003 and the first high school classes began in the fall of that year with fifteen students enrolled. After holding classes offsite while Valley’s 67,000 square foot building was being built, the doors of the high school opened in the spring of 2004 and the middle school (grades 6-8) was added in 2006.
Valley received state accreditation in 2008 and is also accredited through the National Lutheran Schools Accreditation which is recognized by the Iowa Board of Education. In the spring of 2012, Immanuel Lutheran Elementary closed after 130 years of providing quality Christian education in the Cedar Valley. Asked to continue the legacy, in the fall of that year, Valley Lutheran expanded our mission to include elementary education allowing families the opportunity to receive an excellent Christian education in the same building for kindergarten through 12th grade.
Valley Lutheran School has a full curriculum of core courses for all grades. The high school offers art, foreign language, vocal and instrumental music, and Advanced Placement courses along with opportunities for Christian service. Student growth and academic achievement are aided by the desirable student/teacher ratio, daily devotions, prayer, and a close working relationship between parents and the school.
Families choose Valley Lutheran School as an alternative to public education, as we are able to educate a child not only academically but spiritually and emotionally through the love of JESUS CHRIST.
