Valor Run: Valor Knows No Gender

For as long as this country has been fighting wars, at home or abroad, women have been injured and killed in combat zones. Valor Run honors those women, now 160, who made the ultimate sacrifice in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as the families they left behind.

Valor Run began as a personal journey of remembrance for U.S. Navy Captain Nancy Lacore. After serving in Afghanistan from 2011-2012, she came up with the idea of running one mile for every women killed in the Global War of Terror. in honor of the fallen women. She ran 160 miles in 160 hours in October 2014. This inaugural Valor Run brought the sacrifice of our women warriors to the forefront and raised over $33,000 for two nonprofit organizations, The Women in Military Service for America Memorial (which keeps alive the memory of the fallen women) and Wounded Wear (which serves families of the fallen).

Nancy, currently with 24 years of active and reserve service in the Navy, is the wife of an active duty helicopter pilot and mother of six.
