Vancouver School of Arts and Academics

Vancouver School of Arts and Academics has been center stage since it opened in 1996 in the historic Shumway Junior High building. This small, unique school of the arts draws students in 6th- through 12th-grade from throughout the district.
Students apply for admission to this magnet school, but entrance is not based solely on talent. Students at VSAA are self-motivated with a passion for the arts. It's all about learning, and our creative students excel academically as well as artistically. Students can explore every art form—music, dance, theatre, and visual, literary, and media arts. Students also may pursue an artistic focus in greater depth. Core classes in English, math, science and history are integrated with the arts.

Shakespeare said that all the world’s a stage. At VSAA, you’ll find it’s true. Performing is a regular part of the VSAA day. On stage or in the hallway during lunch, you'll find our students reading lines, playing instruments, or perfecting dance steps. Whether you want to be in the spotlight, or if you prefer working behind the scenes, you’ll find your place at VSAA.
