Vann York Honda

Vann York began his automotive career with the finance division of General Motors, where he worked for 15 years, after serving in the U.S. Navy near the end of WWII.

In 1968 he became managing partner of the General Motors dealership in Pilot Mountain. In 1971, he returned to the his hometown of High Point and purchased the Pontiac franchise and opened for business downtown. Honda was added in 1974.

In 1986, Vann York Auto Mall was opened on Eastchester Drive and was uniquely designed to offer customers a full range of product lines including Pontiac, Mitsubishi, Honda and a large Used Vehicle Center.

Each product line has separate service and parts facilities and share the dealership’s state of the art Collision Repair Center. The Auto Mall employs approximately 250 people from throughout the Triad area.

Vann York is President and Chairman of the organization. His son, Greg York, serves as the Vice President and General Manager and runs the day to day operation of the Auto Mall.

In addition to the lines represented at the Auto Mall, the Yorks also have Vann York GMC, Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick, Nissan, Toyota and Scion in High Point.

The Vann York organization is a past recipient of the North Carolina Family Business Award and was recognized the by the Governor of North Carolina. In 2009, they received the National Automotive Dealers Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
