There are so many areas in our region that are remote and do not have high speed cable or fiber optics running past the door, so it is a fact of life that we must rely on the airways to get our connection to the Internet. The problem is that Satellites are too far away and are constantly battling the weather and ozone layer to get the signal through, combine that with the millions that use each satellite and the result is overcrowding and inconsistent speed. The aircards have a similar problem relying on Radio Cell Towers that struggle with the number of clients trying to use them at the same time.
