E-Mail can be addressed to VFW4929@aol.com.
VFW 4929 is involved with many activities in and around the community. Each Memorial Day a parade and service is held in the City. Ceremonies are conducted on the square around all the monuments from wars dating as far back as the civil war.
In the past, the fourth Thursday of each month, for 51 years, VFW 4929 members visit the Brecksville Veterans Hospital and host a rewarding bingo game for many patients and provide light refreshments at the conclusion. That facility closed in April 2011.
We had members that went every Saturday to the Brecksville Veterans Hospital for 41 years to attend to the veterans and provide them coffee and doughnuts and escort them down to the break area if they are unable to walk on their own.

Each Veterans Day, members from the post speak to students at Wilcox primary and Dodge Intermediate schools about the meaning of being a veteran. Veteran memorabilia is displayed at the school during that week.
Members work with the scouts and school groups to provide items of need and comfort to many patients at the Brecksville Veterans Hospital. Books and pictures created by students are given to the vets for their reading. Our VFW sponsors the Venturing CREW 4929 scout group.
In the past, VFW 4929 has set up and displayed Veteran awareness booths at Twins Days and Twinsburg Home Days.

VFW 4929 holds open house at the post home on Memorial Day and has welcomed home and bid farewell to service men and women from Twinsburg. We also are involved with all the yellow ribbon ceremonies that are conducted at the army base in Twinsburg.

VFW 4929 distributes Poppy’s every May in the City of Twinsburg with all donations received benefiting the Veterans.
VFW 4929 conducts an annual flag disposal ceremony on the last Saturday every April at Glen Chamberlin Park at noon. Flags that are no longer worthy to be displayed can be dropped off at the post, or the Twinsburg Public Library.

Our ranks are thinning but overall, VFW 4929 might be small in membership, but we are large in the community supporting all veterans and their families. We continue to provide awareness and information to people who require assistance. The City of Twinsburg has supported our cause and has posted a VFW sign on our streets as you enter the city from all directions.

No single member of VFW 4929 looks for special recognition for his or her achievements but I will add the fact that deceased Life Member John Yanok, a World War II veteran, has a published book at our public library and in circulation.

We have a web site www.twinsburgveterans.com, to provide information to and for veterans and their families and to make the public aware that a veteran who cares is still out there.

And most important of all, Twinsburg VFW 4929 brought to The City of Twinsburg, the “Cost of Freedom” tribute display along with other display July 2 through the 5th of 2015.
