More about Victory Cathedral Church of God in Christ

In 1955 Pastor ZZ Hayes founded Victory Church of God In Christ. The church was located in an area of Dallas that desperately needed a true God sent ministry. During Pastor Hayes tenure as Pastor, a building located at 3427 Bernal Drive was purchased for worship services. The Victory Church family grew and many were blessed. Sadly in 1964 Pastor Hayes was summoned to his heavenly home. Soon after that death of Pastor Hayes, Elder Jessie Williams was appointed as Pastor of the Victory Church of God In Christ. Many lives were changed and saved under the pastorate of Elder Jessie Williams. In 1970, upon the untimely death of Elder Jessie Williams, the young Elder J. V. Garrett Sr. was appointed as Pastor. Under Pastor J.V. Garrett, Victory became a beacon of hope for West Dallas, providing physical, mental and spiritual nurturing for many families. In 1980, Victory purchased a new location to better serve the families and community. Elder J.V. Garrett made great strides toward building lives and making a difference. The church’s former location (3305 Canada Drive) is a testament of a West Dallas awakening. In 2000 Elder Benjamin Garrett was appointed pastor of Victory Church of God In Christ.

Since Pastor Benjamin Garrett’s appointment, Victory Church of God In Christ has grown tremendously in membership and service toward the community. Therefore continuing the excellence established by Elder J.V. Garrett.

In May of 2005, Pastor Benjamin Garrett was inspired to preach through the entire book of Nehemiah. His theme was “Rebuilding Our Lives” based on the principles of the word of God. During that time, New Orleans, Louisiana was struck by the devastation of the hurricane Katrina. Pastor Garrett and the members of Victory Cathedral housed over 50 New Orleans residents throughout the DFW metroplex. Pastor Garrett unselfishly donated his personal furniture to the residents who lost their homes and belongings The Victory Cathedral Choir ministered in hotels where many of the New Orleans residents were staying. Soon after the loving care Pastor Garrett and Victory Cathedral gave to the New Orleans guest, Victory Cathedral was noted by many city officials as a leading ministry of love and compassion, to all people. In 2006, Victory Cathedral acquired an abandoned, neglected and condemned building. Pastor Garrett’s vision was to rebuild, just as Nehemiah rebuilt the walls of Jerusalem. Pastor Garrett stated that “God would rebuild lives, as we remodel this building.” Today, Victory Cathedral is housed in a 21st century, state-of the-art facility that faces downtown Dallas. The view of downtown Dallas skyline, from Victory Cathedral’s location, is inspirational, to say the least. You must come and see for yourself. Afterwards, bring the whole family for a worship experience inside the beautiful Victory Cathedral.

Pastor Garrett, along with the Victory Cathedral family are continuing to “Impact the community to change the World.”
