Vinalhaven Seafood LLC

Vinalhaven Seafood LLC is a family owned and operated lobster processing business startup that sells and ships small batches of homemade lobster étouffée, a unique value-added lobster stew based on our own Louisiana recipe. Our lobsters are sustainably harvested and fully traceable, guaranteed to be from our local waters.

We live and work on the beautiful island of Vinalhaven, Maine located in Penobscot Bay, which is one of the state’s top lobster producing harbors. The inspiration for this business began as a school project for our 18-year-old CEO/lobsterman Byron Thomas in April of 2013. With the support and guidance of teacher and business consultant Tristan Jackson and Byron’s parents Yvonne and Jamie Thomas, Vinalhaven Seafood was started.

Our facility is right on Carver’s Harbor near the center of the Town of Vinalhaven and has been completely renovated to be a fully permitted and licensed seafood processor. Our lobsters are processed and cooked into étouffée within 24 hours of being caught and sold directly to customers by advanced order and at Vinalhaven's Saturday morning farmer's market. Our products are available at the ARCafe on Vinalhaven and at Calderwood Hall on North Haven. We also air ship our frozen lobster étouffée via UPS nationwide.
