The Town of Abingdon has been welcoming visitors for over 200 years. Located in the beautiful Blue Ridge Highlands of Virginia, Abingdon encompasses historical sites and attractions, cultural events, outdoor recreation and world class art venues. We are home to Barter Theatre, the State Theatre of Virginia and one of the longest running professional theatres in the nation. This live theatre produces between 17-19 shows per year on two unique stages. Visitors to Abingdon can find creativity on display in many forms including visual, performing, traditional and theatrical arts. The historic downtown area is a great place to do some retail therapy; you can enjoy a farm-to-table meal at one of our great locally owned restaurants or try a tasting at the Abingdon Winery or Wolf Hills Brewing Company.
