Waccamaw Regional Council of Governments, a regional agency serving county governments, municipalities, and the citizens of Georgetown, Horry, and Williamsburg counties, offers a wide variety of planning, economic development, and social services to aid in the orderly growth and development of the area.
Created in 1969, Waccamaw Regional is one of ten such regional agencies in the state, together making up the South Carolina Association of Regional Councils. The Council provides in-depth assistance to local governments by serving as the technical planning staff for numerous planning and zoning commissions, assisting in securing and administering grant funds for local projects and services, and coordinating varied social services for the economically deprived.
